Congratulations to Ryan Schultz’ student Brandon Davis!  In the Spring of 2007, Brandon won a national audition to attend the prestigious Colburn School on a full-fellowship. Brandon won the WMEA State Solo competition and was the “Second Place National Winner” at last year’s Music Teacher’s National Association “Senior Brass” Competition.

Ryan Schultz has a masters degree in Music Performance/Pedagogy and a wealth of teaching experience. If you want to improve, you need to study with someone was has demonstrated the ability to help students improve. I have demonstrated such an ability by helping my students to:  win the International Tuba and Euphonium Association’s Northwest Convention Solo Competition (“Big Brass Bash”), win auditions to perform in the all northwest/state honors band and/or orchestra. . .

Additionally, I maintain an active performing career.  Currently I:

  • am Principal Tubist of the Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra and the Auburn and Yakima Symphonies
  • am Low Brass Instructor at: the University of Puget Sound, Shorewood Music Studios, and Midsummer Musical Retreat.
  • Coach for Seattle Youth Symphonies’ Endangered Instruments Program
  • Coordinate the Greater Seattle Area TUBACHRISTMAS (which I founded)
